If you know me, you know I love finding new crap on the internet.

One of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time is a Safari plugin called ClickToFlash. If you saw the picture above, you already saw the main purpose, but ClickToFlash is MUCH more than a Flash-blocker, and I’ll explain why in a moment. Trust me, even with a higher-end system with maxed out memory, a page carelessly loaded with 20 or so embedded YouTube videos will still bring your system to it’s knees.

Beyond selectively loading Flash applets (including ANY video sharing site’s player and Flash ads and banners), the sickest feature is that you can automatically bypass Flash all together for YouTube players and go directly to the H.264 version, which even supports HD. No more clunky/choppy/half-loaded videos. If you can play QuickTime, your YouTube experience will automatically be better.

Ford SYNus Concept

I’ve always had a crazy fascination with concept cars. They’re the ones who someone thought we needed, but weren’t ready for. In the past five years, however, we’ve been introduced to some more alternative designs like the Nissan Cube, Kia Soul, and Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Enter the Ford SYNus concept. Pronounced sin-you-us, not sinus—like I thought and still see. It’s supposed to sound like “synthesis” and sinuous. I was stumbling around Ford’s website looking through ‘current’ concepts and saw this gem. Instead of a rear window, it simply has a big LCD display with a camera outside. According to the Wikipedia entry, it’s based off an armadillo and (in the lower part of the picture) can go into lockdown mode, where the seats turn around and face the TV while simultaneously the bulletproof (yeah) windows are covered by an outershell.

Beyond these eccentric features, I guarantee this thing could easily go into production with today’s tastes.

Payday Honey Roasted Limited Edition

After a bit of research, I found some details on one of my favorite candy bars of all time. Hershey’s introduced a limited edition of a candy bar I found quite favorable. If you know me, you know I’m sort of a sucker for gimmicky stuff—especially limited or special edition versions of things.

I can remember it clear as day. The year was 2003. It was late October, or early November—that part I’m fuzzy on. I walked into a local Mac’s convenience store (now Circle K) to grab a tasty gas station cappuccino and there it was. BAM! Honey Roasted Payday. The most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted.

Being limited edition, I wasn’t sure how long it would stick around. Surely enough, they were gone by the end of the holiday season. The same bars appeared once again the following year, but I’ve never seen them since.

Hershey’s execs: If you’re reading this, please bring the bar back. One of your greatest successes, by far. Maybe you can stop producing Skor AND Heath since they’re the same thing.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen camera gear that has absolutely floored me. All jokes aside, my mouth literally dropped open when I first saw this photo.

In this picture is a Canon 5D MkII mounted to a Panavision 50mm Primo anamorphic lens sitting atop an O’Connor Ultimate 2060 head.

According to the Planet5D blog, the rig was used by Tom from Timescapes to shoot a digital timelapse as part of an international spot for Audi.

The adapter that allowed that massive piece of glass to attach to the 5D was custom machined by Panavision of Hollywood.

I have a new dream rig…
